Eating For Muscles While at Work

Everybody wishes they had the convenience of a pro bodybuilder, who could cook breakfast, go to the gym, cook lunch, then cook again, and again. Well, actually, not every pro lives like that. Jay Cutler used to get up early in the morning to cook his food for the day, then brown bag it, and eat it throughout the day as he did his work. He worked in construction. Ronnie Coleman was a police officer. He did the same thing. The sooner you understand that you are not alone....... the sooner you may start eating right while at work. Just understand that this thing is a little difficult for everybody...... not just you.

At the time of writing this article, I am a vacuum truck driver in the oil fields of California. Yes, California has oil. A lot of oil. I work 12 days straight, then take 2 days off. Then repeat. I work an average of 12 to 14 hours a day. Sometimes 18 hours..... sometimes 24 hours straight..... sometimes 36 hours straight. I understand your plight of not being able to have convenience to eat fresh muscle food while at work. Let me share with you some things that I do that has helped me throughout the years.

1. If you travel, find the grocery store in that city.

I used to work on a drilling rig that travelled all over southern California. Whenever we came into another city, I would look for the nearest grocery store and the 24 hour fitness gym. I had to stock up on the good stuff. We live in such a great day. Today, you can go into stores and they have whole rotisserie chickens in there for like, six dollars! If you are a hardgainer and can take the few extra calories, they sometimes have breaded chicken tenders that are rockin'! Today, it's easier than ever to get in your protein and vegetables. You can buy salads that are already tossed. You can buy juices that are 100% pureed fruit. You can buy ready-to-drink muscle milk at many California mini markets. This stuff is great! If you are having a hard time finding protein rich foods for your lunches, you need to take a walk in your nearest major name grocery store. My favorite one is Albertsons.

2. Prepare your meals the day before, or days in advance.

I tell this to everyone. If you don't prepare your food ahead of time, you are going to be frustrated. Everybody is busy. Hardly anyone has the convenience of eating at home all the time. Look, you need to get yourself in gear and cook 2 days of chicken breast at a time... or whatever it is. I cook about 2 days of food at a time. Plenty of chicken, steak, spaghetti, and potatoes. I don't want to be left out somewhere wondering what I'm gonna do for lunch, and then have to settle for the nearest stop-and-rob mini market so I can get a hot dog, chips, and soda. Forget that.

3. Buy containers for your food.

Do it man. It's worth it. Get you some good containers that you can put anything in without spilling it. I also have a big red ice chest that I put my stuff in every day. Plenty of room for the containers of spaghetti, a plate with some flatware, a Max Muscle protein shaker cup, a large, sealed cup of milk, some fruit, a small container of protein powder, a gallon of water, oh yeah, and a bottle of Mona Vie juice. That's how we do it son! Now go out and get your containers!

Also, you need to find a store that has a microwave with some way cool people in there. Again, I'm a truck driver. I work primarily in the oil fields of California. Sometimes I drive all around Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. I have places I can stop to fuel up. I am buying 300 dollars of fuel..... you better believe they will let me use that microwave! So I will get my little bowl of chicken and rice, or whatever, and cook that sucker up! Sometimes I'll have a soda, and heat up my stuff while I'm buying it. Do whatever you have to do, but use those microwaves!

Look man, this stuff is going to take a little work. If you work it, you will see your muscles thank you.

Now..... shouldn't you be cooking something right now?
